Building with naturally derived materials is essential. We use Hempcrete blocks by Isohemp of Belgium, hempwool insulation from Hempitecture and Gutex wood fiber rigid insulation and sarking boards. Foundations are insulated with integral form-work made of recycled glass foam boards and substrates are insulated with compacted glass foam aggregate.
Paul & Mirjana Petrov
Paul Petrov and Architect Jakov Saric were converting a 1920s garage on the upper East side of New York into a bigger high-end condo building when the covid pause stopped construction. Paul, wife Mirjana and daughter Mika stayed at their country house in Saugerties. There they became restless and bought a few parcels of Hudson Valley land to start high quality single family development emphasizing health and natural materials.
After studying current building methods for single family homes, including the multilayered assemblies used in the highly regarded Passivehaus construction, Paul and Jakov became convinced that the simpler Hempcrete envelope recently introduced in Europe was the healthiest and most reliable building system currently in use.
We are now working on high-end development projects in the Hudson Valley inspired by early California ranch houses and Japanese and Scandinavian cabins interacting with the outdoors. We are also developing simple and spacious open-plan houses, with extra attention paid to handicapped accessibility, to be offered at a lower price point.
